Jeg Coughlin, Jr. began the day sitting in the No. 3 position. During the third qualifying session his performance was hurt by a poor 60-foot time (1.085). He ran a 7.066 at 197.36 mph and remained in the No. 3 position.

"The car just did not respond as well as we wanted it to off of the line," explained Jeg. "The good thing about the run was that we learned more about how our set up is responding to the track."

Troy Coughlin started the final day of qualifying resting in the No. 12 spot. Troy was also hurt by his initial launch from the starting line. He ran 7.048 at 196.10 mph and stayed in the No. 12 position.

"The third session was just a warm up to the final qualifying session," said Troy. "The only session that matters when it is this hot is the night session. If you don't run well when it cools down here you can really hurt yourself."

Jeg showed that he is ready for raceday. He ran a 6.988 at 196.70 mph and stayed in the No. 3 spot. Jeg will face off against Tom Martino in the first round.

"The changes that we made to the car for the final session showed that we went the right direction," commented Jeg. "I am really looking forward to racing tomorrow night under the lights. I really enjoy night racing."

Troy did not improve during the final session. However, he did make a competitive pass. Troy ran a 7.034 at 196.44 mph. Troy will line up next to Rickie Smith in round one.

"I really thought that we were going to make a move up during the final session," said Troy. "I know that this team will be ready for battle tomorrow."
