FORCE WINS 1000th ROUND, GOODYEAR-SHOD CARS WIN 4 TROPHIES

MADISON, Ill. (May 5, 2008) -- John Force reached a milestone once considered unobtainable and four Goodyear-shod cars won trophies in the NHRA's O'Reilly Midwest Nationals at Gateway International Raceway.

The Goodyear-equipped winners included Rod Fuller (in Top Fuel), Tim Wilkerson (Funny Car), Kurt Johnson (Pro Stock) in the POWERade Drag Racing Series professional categories and Peter Biondo (Super Stock) in the Lucas Oil Sportsman categories.

Goodyear leads the tire industry with 34 wins in NHRA national event wins this season.

Force captured his one thousandth career round win in the first round when he beat Ron Capps. The proceedings were stopped to mark the occasion. Force lost to Robert Hight in the second round.

Fuller beat Tony Schumacher in the final round but Schumacher maintained his lead in the championship standings.

Wilkerson beat Team Force driver Mike Neff by .0172 of a second, a span of about eight feet. The victory gave Wilkerson the points lead.

Johnson beat Dave Connolly in the Pro Stock. Jason Line now has a seven-point lead in the Pro Stock title chase.

Biondo grabbed the 34th national event victory of his career and he did it with a nearly perfect reaction time of .001 of a second.
