RIVAS QUALIFIES NINTH FOR O'REILLY NHRA MIDWEST NATIONALS

MADISON, Ill., May 3, 2008 - Chris Rivas rode his G2 Motorsports/Drag Specialties/S&S Cycle V-Twin

Pro Stock Motorcycle into ninth qualifying position for tomorrow's O'Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals here at Gateway International Raceway. During today's final qualifying session, Rivas accomplished the best elapsed time of this season with a 6.993-second lap at 188.86 miles per hour.

"We've been working very hard this weekend," said the 41-year-old Fresno, Calif. native. "I'm optimistic about tomorrow because our motorcycle is strong, but we need to work on it to make it go faster because all of the other Pro Stock Motorcycles are running really well." Crew chief George Smith echoed Rivas's sentiment.

"The class is very competitive with most motorcycles separated by less than a tenth of a second and running six second elapsed times."

Still, Smith, like Rivas, remained positive.

"We picked up our performance in the fourth qualifying round and Chris is doing a good job of riding. The crew is working together well and we're looking forward to tomorrow." "I'm also very happy about how well our team works together," added Rivas. Rivas, who comes into this event in seventh place in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle championship-point standings, will face Craig Treble, who qualified eighth with a 6.989-second E.T. at 192.38 mph, in the first round of tomorrow's eliminations. "Overall, I'm happy. The team works together very well and I'm looking forward to tomorrow," added Rivas.
