Madison, Ill. (June 23) - Brian "Lump" Self, driver of the Roof-Tec Chevrolet S-10 Pro Stock Truck, will enter eliminations at the Fourth Annual Sears Craftsman Nationals occupying the third position. In the second round of eliminations Lump laid down the 7.612 / 17.84 mph lap which placed him in the fourth position.

On the second day of qualifying Lump used his time on the racetrack to prepare for Saturday night's eliminations.

"We have spent the day working on our race-day set-up," said Self. "We tried a couple of different gear ratios, to see how much we could get out of this track."

"Right now the track is not the best one we've seen all year. The right lane is pretty bad. There are bald spots in both lanes, but the bald spots are a lot bigger in the right. Getting the truck past those bald spots are pretty tricky. That is going to make lane choice critical tomorrow. Being in the top half of the field automatically gives us lane choice, but we are going to have to keep lane choice if we want to go rounds tomorrow.=20

"We have been experimenting with gear ratios during qualifying today. We are trying to see what it would take to get over the bald spots better. We made two pretty good laps today, and learned a lot. I think we have it half-way figured out.

"I am ready to race tomorrow. The truck is working well, and I'm driving like I should. I think we will be able to go some rounds tomorrow. We are going to concentrate on keeping lane choice, and racing our race. I wish we could race right now."

Eliminations at the Fourth Annual Sears Craftsman Nationals begin at 4:00 PM ET on Saturday June 24.
