Mac Tools and Doug Kalitta continue partnership to pursue NHRA championships through 2008
Ypsilanti, Mich., (Feb. 1, 2006) - Mac Tools, based in Columbus, Ohio, and Kalitta Motorsports are excited to announce a primary sponsorship extension agreement through the 2008 NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) season for the bright red, 7,000 horsepower Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster driven by 24-time NHRA national event winner Doug Kalitta in the POWERade Drag Racing Series.
Mac Tools, a worldwide leader in quality hand tools and equipment, became the primary sponsor on Kalitta's nitro-powered, 330-mph rail in 2001 and has helped the team break many track records across the United States, including an NHRA-best 4.420-second lap in Chicago in 2004.
"Mac Tools is proud to continue our partnership with Kalitta Motorsports," John Aden, President of Mac Tools said. "The Kalitta name is synonymous with drag racing and we couldn't be more pleased to support such a racing tradition.
"Doug knows that he has over 1,600 Mac Tools Distributors as his team's number one fans-they can't wait to see how fast that Mac Tools dragster will power down the quarter mile this season and beyond."
Kalitta, a two-time Top Fuel championship points runner-up (2003-2004)and winner of the Automobile Club of Southern California Road to the Future Award in his rookie year of 1998, is equally as optimistic about his team's prospects with Mac Tools continued support.
"Mac Tools has been with me and our Kalitta Motorsports team for many years now and I couldn't be happier that they have chosen to make this extension," Kalitta, a 41-year old resident of Ann Arbor, Mich., said. "Hopefully we can give them a few championships now to show them how much we appreciate all that they continue to do for us."
Team owner and drag racing icon Connie Kalitta is also enthusiastic about the new agreement. "It's been very rewarding for a company the caliber of Mac Tools to want to maintain our partnership for the past several years and now for even more to come."
Mac Tools will also continue to be an associate sponsor on Kalitta Motorsports' Top Fuel entries driven by Dave Grubnic and Hillary Will and the Funny Car driven by Scott Kalitta.
