Massey anxious to get on revamped Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park track with Battery Extender Powered by Schumacher dragster.
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Feb. 18, 2014) - Spencer Massey's Battery Extender Powered by Schumacher dragster was the picture of consistency two weeks ago at the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season-opener in Pomona, Calif.
"I'm very happy with how our first race went," Spencer said. "We used it as a test session, really. We just need to fine tune what we learned and make our Battery Extender dragster faster and keep it consistent that way too."
The new Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, formerly Firebird Raceway, received a makeover since last year. With a new track surface and new scoreboards, Massey is ready to see it all for himself.
"I've heard great things about the changes they've made in Phoenix," he said. "But we won't really know until we get there and make our first lap. It could be an interesting challenge for the teams and the crew chiefs on what calls to make."
Massey believes crew chiefs Phil Shuler and Todd Okuhara have plenty of data in their history at Don Schumacher Racing to make the right calls.
"Phil and Todd know what they're doing and I know they'll roll up to the starting line for the first pass with a good tune-up in it. We'll just go out there and see how it does and adjust from there."
