TONY PEDREGON REMAINS FOURTH IN CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS; INVITED TO COMPETE IN NIGHT UNDER FIRE MATCH RACE IN NORWALK

SONOMA, Calif. (July 30, 2007) -- Tony Pedregon, driver of the Q Horsepower Funny Car and 2003 NHRA Nitro Funny Car World Champion rolled into the super-fast Infineon Raceway in Sonoma for the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals, July 27-29.Pedregon, flying the Prestone colors for this event, leaves Sonoma fourth in the POWERade Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship point standings.

Pedregon had the Prestone machine finely tuned for the all-important Friday night qualifying session. With header flames lighting the Infineon Raceway sky, Pedregon blistered the right lane with a 4.764 E.T. at 318.32 mph. placing him fourth in the 16-car field.

In Sunday's final round eliminations, Pedregon faced Jeff Arend, the No. 13 qualifier.Pedregon got the jump off the line, and then the car slowed.Arend went on to the round win with a 4.869 at 320.97 mph to Pedregon's 6.896 at 130.15 mph effort.

"We didn't anticipate the car doing what it did," said Pedregon.b^0x001cWe felt we had a safe set-up based on the track conditions. With as much technology and horsepower in these cars, it's not an exact science. At this stage, we are scratching our head about what caused the car to lose traction. With all this good air here in Sonoma, any deviation, like the way the track is prepared, really can push the car over the edge."

It will be back to work for the Q Horsepower team as they prepare for the 30th Annual Night Under Fire invitational match race at Norwalk Raceway Park on August 4.

"It will be a weekend off for most of the NHRA competitors," Pedregon explained. "We will be working in Norwalk at the Night Under Fire match race. We'll use the weekend as a platform to test by making two runs in the evening and another two runs in the heat of the day, it's the price we'll pay to get this thing back on track. We'll come out of the weekend with at least four or five runs while every one else is enjoying their weekend off. It's our job to deliver performance and give Q Horsepower a winning car. That was our intention coming into Sonoma. Our goal is to move up in the top eight in the Countdown to the Championship point standings and give ourselves a chance to win the Championship."
