SKOAL RACING COMMITTED TO TOP EIGHT

SONOMA, CA (July 25, 2007) -- At the end of six weeks of consecutive races, Tommy Johnson Jr. and his SKOAL Racing team are rolling into the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma on a mission: moving their way to the top eight in points standings for the Countdown to the Championship. Johnson currently sits 12th after racing his Skoal Racing Chevrolet Impala Funny Car to a first round effort against familiar foe Del Worsham in Seattle.

Johnson is looking to rebound from a difficult weekend of poor weather conditions and having the Impala nearly come apart in his final qualifier. During that run, the entire motor and body were lost when the engine broke several major parts, causing the body to fly off and shatter into pieces. Johnson recognized the difficult road both behind and in front of him, but said him and Skoal Racing are ready for this latest test.

"It's been a tough six weeks on the road and we knew it was going to be a struggle," said Johnson. "The team has worked extremely hard and they always keep fighting back. As a driver, you love that. We made some radical changes so that we can improve our performance for that final push."

After the event in Reading, PA (August 16-19), the top eight drivers in the Funny Car division advance to the "SKOAL SHOWDOWN" (POWERade Series) U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, IN beginning on August 29.

"We're at the point in the season where if you're going to make a run, now is the time," said Johnson. "It's almost a 'do or die' situation and our team is committed to come out on top, and I believe we will."
