Tolvier Racing - Final Eliminations

SONOMA, Calif. (August 5, 2001) - The first round of eliminations at the Fram Autolite Nationals got underway today at Sears Point Raceway with Jerry Toliver, driver of the World Wrestling Federation sponsored Pontiac Firebird Funny Car, facing Bruce Sarver. Toliver ran an elapsed time of 6.125-seconds at 213.23 mph against Sarver's 6.039-seconds at 229.08 mph.

Jerry Toliver - "Obviously, we are disappointed with the car's performance in the first round. Sarver and I both smoked the tires and ended up in a peddling match that we didn't win. This team has come along way in the past three races, our consistency has improved a considerable amount and that's what we want."

Dale Armstrong, Crew Chief - "Our intentions for eliminations was to add a little more to the car and run better than 5.06 seconds. Unfortunately, we didn't have lane choice and the right lane has been tough all weekend. We smoked the tires and didn't get down the track with a clean pass. We made progress this weekend, we can't complain about that."
