HOT ROD FULLER RACES TO PROVISIONAL NO. 8 SPOT FRIDAY AT SONOMA

SONOMA, Calif. (July 16, 2010) - "Hot Rod" Fuller, a seven-time NHRA Top Fuel winner, drove his Abu Dhabi/Yas Marina Circuit dragster to the provisional No. 8 qualifying position Friday evening at Infineon Raceway.

Fuller, who is making his 2010 NHRA debut at the FRAM-Autolite Nationals, opened qualifying at the Sonoma track with the eighth quickest pass of Q1 by powering to a run of 3.977 seconds at 293.98 mph. It was Fuller's first pass since the Yas Drag Festival at Yas Marina Circuit in March. Friday's second qualifying session was canceled due to the track's 10 p.m. curfew.

"We're disappointed to not get to make the night run," Fuller said. "We had a good out- of-the-box run to get the car down the track, but we were swinging for the fences to get this Abu Dhabi car near the top of the pack tonight. I feel bad for the fans. I feel confident we can make two good, solid runs and get the car ready for race day on Saturday. I'm confident with Lee (Beard) and my guys."

Professional nitro qualifying resumes on Saturday afternoon at Infineon Raceway with sessions scheduled for 12:30 and 3 p.m. (PT). Top Fuel will run first followed by Funny Car.
