SONOMA, Calif., (July 28, 2007) -- Doug Kalitta, driver of the Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, qualified his 8,000-horsepower, red rail in the top-half of the 16-car final eliminations field for Sunday's race day at the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Doug, a five-time Top Fuel winner in Sonoma, qualified in the No. 6 position, 4.585 seconds, 316.15 mph. He will race against No. 11 (4.628 sec., 290.32 mph) qualifier Clay Millican in round one tomorrow.

Doug's teammate Dave Grubnic, driver of the Zantrex-3 Top Fueler, will begin Sunday from the No. 14 qualifying spot, 4.671 sec., 310.34 mph. Grubnic will roll to the starting line in the opening round to face No. 3 (4.562 sec., 323.66 mph) qualifier Rod Fuller.

Scott Kalitta, driver of the DHL Toyota Solara Funny Car, will unfortunately have to watch his teammates race tomorrow from the sidelines. His team's best effort of 5.090 sec., 254.95 mph was just barely not enough to make the 16-car Funny Car eliminations field. The bump spot in Funny Car was 4.965 seconds.

Hillary Will, driver of the Kalitta Motorsports-managed, Ken Black-owned KB Racing LLC Top Fueler, qualified in the No. 12 position for eliminations.
