SONOMA, Calif., July 28, 2007 -- Eight-thousandths of a second separated Justin Humphreys from his fifth consecutive starting line-up after Saturday's qualifying for Sunday's FRAM Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway.

His quickest elapsed time was 6.669 seconds and he needed to run 6.661 seconds or better.

"Our streak is over . . . and now we are ready to start a new one," said a disappointed Humphreys, of Monrovia, Md. "We missed the tune-up on our early session and we spun the tires on a hot track in the second one (Saturday). Only three cars made it down the track well enough to qualify in the last session. We went after it on our last run to see what happened."

The car spun the tires and moved around the track, forcing Humphreys to shut off the motor in the RaceRedi Motorsports Knoll-Gas Energy Pontiac GTO, and the rookie driver coasted through in 15.791 seconds at 51.22 mph.

"That's just NHRA Pro Stock racing," added Humphreys. "This is our first year here and we are fighting a learning curve, but things are getting better. We have no complaints. It's great to be a part of it."

Humphreys gets the upcoming weekend off after six straight races. He has a test session scheduled before the Lucas Oil Nationals, Aug. 10-12, at Brainerd, Minn.
