SONOMA, Calif., July 28, 2007 -- Cory McClenathan gave a nod to Tony Shortall and Rahn Tobler for giving him a positive feeling going into Sunday's FRAM Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway. McClenathan put the Scott Griffin Motorsports FRAM Top Fuel dragster in the lucky number 13 starting spot for his sponsor's race.

"I feel confident going into Sunday," McClenathan said after Shortall and Tobler made their debut as the team's tuner and consultant, respectively. "Things are going in the right direction."

McClenathan's best run was 4.668 seconds at 320.13 mph. He races Tony Schumacher (No. 4, 4.574 at 327.27 mph) in the opening round.

"Obviously this is the one race where we want to do well," said McClenathan. "Things are coming around faster and are getting better. I feel good about all of it."

Wes Cerny was released as crew chief Monday and Shortall, the assistant crew chief, is tuning the car with Tobler's input.
