CHEVROLET NOTES AND QUOTES PROLONG SUPER LUBRICANTS NORTHWEST NATIONALS NHRA WINSTON DRAG RACING SERIES SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY SATURDAY, AUGUST 1, 1998

PRO STOCK TRUCK -- CHEVY S-10

JERRY HAAS, CHEVY TRUCKS CHEVY S-10, was runner-up for the second time this season in the Pro Stock Truck final, losing to Craig Eaton, on a holeshot advantage, 7.715/175.02 for Haas, 7.742/173.27 for Eaton.

HAAS: "We thought the right lane would be the best. We ran good there all day, we set low e.t. and top speed of the race there. I felt comfortable out there, but when you run behind the Top Fuel cars they don't get all the clutch dust clearaed up in time and it's like driving on ice. The Chevy S-10 moved to the side real bad, I got it back, I thought I could pull it back out, and it was pretty close down there. That's two times runner-up! I really wanted one of those "Oscars.""

ON THE COMPETITION TIGHTENING UP: "The competition is really tight. (Bob) Panella (Jr.) picked up immensely this weekend. Craig Eaton and the Dodges are running good, but they're not running as fast as the Chevys. We just have to keep working on it. The crew had the S-10 running flawlessly, but you can't predict what it's going to do when it slides out of the groove."
