Miller Lite Team in provisional No. 3 spot after Friday'S Seattle qualifying.
SEATTLE (July 26) - NHRA POWERade Top Fuel point leader, Larry Dixon used a 4.626 elapsed time along with a speed of 317.72 mph to position himself in the provisional No. 3 spot after the completion of only one Friday qualifying session of the Lucas Oil Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways. "I was very pleased with the run considering all the concrete work that they were doing on the track as late as this morning," said Miller Lite driver, Dixon. "To be able to get that good of run down that lane I was happy, real happy about it. I was really excited about getting a chance to go into the better lane for the night session but it just didn't work out that way." Due to curfew restrictions, the night Top Fuel qualifying session was canceled. Intermittent drizzle delayed qualifying of the other class categories, which eventually led to time running out prior to the completion of the entire professional session.
"I never even knew they had a night curfew here until they made note of it this year," Dixon said. "I know the weather didn't look good and then we had a little bit of a drizzle and then it got worse and here we are. Half of the guys are making runs and half of them aren't."
Qualifying continues with two more sessions on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. PDT. ESPN will air a two-hour qualifying highlights program beginning at 8 p.m. EDT. on Saturday, July 27.
