Toliver Starts 10th, Races Densham Sunday

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 6, 2007 -- Jerry Toliver and the ROCKSTAR/AutoZone Toyota Solara Funny Car crew were elated with the car's consistency during its two qualifying runs Saturday for Sunday's Torco Racing Fuels Nationals at Virginia Motorsports Park.

Toliver's quickest -- 4.859 seconds at 305.70 mph -- put him 10th overall on a day that featured early clouds and turned into hot sunshine. He added a tire-spinning 4.878 and 302.28 in the hotter session.

"We made two good laps and are getting the car dialed into the racetrack," Toliver said. "We are pleased because the car is moving good early in the run. Our 60-foot and 330-foot times were among the top three on both (Saturday) runs. We need to pick up the performance in the middle of the run and slow it down at the other end. It sounds easy, doesn't it.

"The bottom line is we have a good car for race day. The lanes are about the same, which is good because we don't get to pick the lane."

Toliver races Gary Densham (No. 7, 4.838 at 305.70 mph) in the opening round.
