Toliver Ninth Going into Saturday Qualifying at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 5, 2007 -- Jerry Toliver said his 5.018-second time in his only Friday qualifying run wasn't as good as it should've been, but he was nonetheless pleased to be solidly in the field at No. 9.

Toliver's ROCKSTAR/AutoZone Toyota spun the tires and Toliver aborted the run as the Torco Racing Fuels Nationals got underway at Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie. His speed was 253.66 mph.

He made only one run due to an afternoon rain storm. Track conditions made it "difficult to see," said Toliver. "I really couldn't see much past half-track because the lights were glaring off the track. I shut it off when it spun the tires and we weren't going anywhere.

"We have a good race car, though. We had the best 60-foot time on that run and we were third at 330 feet. We are in a good spot and we should be able to pick it up Saturday. We are looking forward to it."

Two runs are scheduled to set the field for Sunday's eliminations.
