HERBERT QUALIFIES IN TOP HALF OF FIELD

RICHMOND, Va. (October 6, 2007) Doug Herbert, driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster, piloted the rail car to the No. 8 qualifying position at the 2nd annual Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals.

Rain shortened Friday's session to a single qualifying run, but dry skies prevailed on Saturday, allowing the two remaining qualifying sessions to take place as scheduled.

Herbert's best pass of the weekend came during the noon session on Saturday, with the Snap-on Tools dragster clocking the quarter-mile in 4.59 seconds at 306.05 mph.

"The car is running good right now," said Herbert. "We made two really strong passes, and we got a little too aggressive on the third one. Now we know what too much is, at least for today, and we think conditions will be pretty much the same tomorrow, if not a little hotter.

"We feel good about tomorrow. We are going to get ready to go rounds and hopefully take home another win."

Herbert will face Hillary Will in the first round of eliminations.
