HERBERT READY TO CELEBRATE IN RICHMOND

RICHMOND, Va. (October 3, 2007) Doug Herbert, driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster, will celebrate a milestone this weekend at the 2nd annual Torco Racing Fuels Nationals in Richmond, Va. The North Carolina resident will celebrate his 40th birthday on Friday.

"I remember thinking 40 was old when I was a kid," said Herbert, "but now that I'm here, it's not so bad. I still feel like a kid, well sometimes at least. We are going to celebrate on Thursday, because Friday it's time to get back in the groove."

Herbert comes into the race at Virginia Motorsports Park in the No. 7 position, 85 points outside the top four. The last race put Herbert and the Snap-on Tools team in a tough position to get into the top four and make the Countdown to One, but that has not kept Herbert from keeping the hope alive.

"I know it's a long shot," said Herbert, "but who is to say it can't happen? We only had a 'mathematical chance' to make the top eight and we made it happen.

"Our goal for the weekend will be what it always is: qualify in the top half of the field and win the race. So much depends on what happens to everyone else in the Countdown to Four, we will race our race and see what happens with the points.

"Winning and making the Countdown to One on my birthday weekend would be pretty cool, though, wouldn't it? I think I know what I'm going to wish for when I blow out my candles."
