SCREAMIN' EAGLE V-ROD NHRA DRAG RACING TEAM HAS TO WAIT TO MAKE A RUN AT MAPLE GROVE RACEWAY

Annual NHRA POWERade Event Rained Out; Postponed Two Weeks

MOHNTON, Penn., (Sept. 16, 2006) -- The crewmembers of the Screamin' Eagle/Vance & Hines V-Rod team have been nothing short of drooling for some track time at Maple Grove Raceway. The track, surrounded by luscious oxygen-producing trees, has been the site of record-breaking runs throughout the history of NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle racing.

Now the team will have to show a bit of patience. The 22nd annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway has been postponed because of persistent rain. The rain has not only halted on-track action, but has flooded pits and spectator parking as well, leaving NHRA officials no choice but to move the race to another weekend.

The NHRA will return to complete the race Sept. 29- Oct. 1.

"It's unfortunate that we had to battle rain instead of other competitors this weekend," Harley-Davidson Racing Manager Anne Paluso said. "We were anxious to run but there isn't anything you can do about the rain. We'll just have to be patient, come back and be ready to race in two weeks instead."

Rider Andrew Hines is the current NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle points leader. He has two wins in four final rounds this season. The 23-year-old Indianapolis resident said rain is part of the deal when racing in the Northeast.

"It wouldn't be Reading without rain," Hines said. "I think it's rained every year that I've raced there. Usually we can squeeze in some racing and have the benefits of racing in the area. Hopefully we can take advantage of the time off we have before we come back in two weeks.

"We didn't have a chance to recuperate after the U.S. Nationals in Indy and now we have some more time to go back into the shop and find some more horsepower. Now that we have a few extra days to be prepared for the event, I'm hopeful that we will be even more ready to perform when we come back."
