Dallas last chance for Pro Mod drivers to earn points for the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout

ENNIS, Texas (September 20, 2004) -- At the NHRA AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge, an NHRA exhibition class, being held in conjunction with this weekend's NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals, Pro Mod drivers will have one final race to earn qualifying points for the eight-car AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout.

The Shootout features the most consistent Pro Mod qualifiers throughout the NHRA AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Challenge season, which, due to a change in Shootout location, began at last season's Dallas event and concludes this weekend in Dallas.

The top eight in the final point standings following qualifying for the O'Reilly Fall Nationals will compete in the second annual AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout, which will be held during qualifying for the fourth annual NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, October 29-31.

The format for the AMS Staff Leasing Pro Mod Shootout awards a driver eight points for qualifying No. 1, seven points for No. 2, down to one point for No. 8. A driver receives points only if he qualifies.

Entering the O'Reilly Fall Nationals, 15 drivers are mathematically in the running for the eight positions that are up for grabs. Mike Ashley, who has 45 points, has locked up the top spot and will start the Shootout from the No. 1 positions, no matter his qualifying results this weekend.

Pro Mod qualifying for the NHRA O'Reilly Fall Nationals begins Friday with two sessions scheduled for 3:30 and 6 p.m. and ending with two sessions on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Final eliminations for all classes get underway on Sunday (August 22) at 3 p.m. These times are subject to change and reflect Central Daylight Time (CDT).
