Troy Falls Short

Troy Coughlin and his yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier started the final day of qualifying looking to break back into the field from the No. 18 position.

In the third qualifying session Troy posted a run of 6.839 at 201.91 mph. The run was an improvement and he slipped to the No. 23 spot with more chance to be among the qualified field on race day.

"The run we made in the third session was closer to where we needed to be," said Troy.

In the final session Troy launched from the starting line and the car made a move toward the center line. Troy quickly drove the JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier back to the center of the groove in the left lane and was forced to shut off down track.

"We put ourselves behind the eight ball going into the final session," commented Troy. "We made some errors and we got burned. This is not the way we wanted to start the season and we are more than capable as a group to be racing this JEG'S Mail Order Chevy Cavalier on race day. We will just regroup for Phoenix next week and learn from what took place this weekend."
