Pomona, Calif., February 21, 2004 -- Persistent rain forced NHRA to cancel the 44th running of the Winternationals at Pomona Raceway.

Racing will resume next weekend, for the Quaker State Racing team with one qualifying session scheduled on February 27, at 3:00 p.m. and two sessions set for Saturday February 28, at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Final Eliminations will be held on Sunday, February 29, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

2003 Funny Car champion Tony Pedregon drove his Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro to an elapsed time of 5.097 seconds at 246.80 mph during the first qualifying session on Thursday to position himself in the eight spot.

"Mother Nature just didn't cooperate this weekend, said Tony. "It's just one of those things we have to deal with in this sport. We'll just pack up and come back next weekend ready to race our Quaker State Chevrolet Camaro."
