Troy began the second qualifying session sitting in the 12th spot. When he left the starting line he could feel that something was not right. The car hesitated and then responded very slowly. Troy stayed with it hoping to improve. He ran a 7.114 at 190.03 mph.

"The car felt odd immediately as it left the starting line beams," explained Troy. "After looking over everything we decided to replace the engine for the third and fourth qualifying sessions in an effort to get back into the field."

Jeg did not improve. He ran a 6.928 at 198.96 mph and slipped down to the 11th spot.

"We are making bad runs and it shows in the numbers and I can feel it in the seat," said Jeg. "Our team will work through this as a group and we will be back on track for tomorrow."
