POMONA, Calif. - Qualifying is over and the Pro Stock Truck field is set at the 41st Annual AutoZone WinterNationals in Pomona, Calif. Included in the 16 truck field our the two DBP Enterprises Chevrolet S-10's, driven by Greg Stanfield and Bart Price.
When eliminations get under way on Sunday Stanfield will take the seventh position with his run from the Thursday of 7.515 / 179.11 mph. Price ran a 7.538 / 179.04 mph on Friday which would be good for the 12th position on Sundays eliminations ladders.
"We came here and did what we set out to do," said team owner and driver Bart Price, "and that was to put both trucks in the show. We did that and I am pleased. I would have liked to have both trucks in the top half, but we will take it any way we can get it.
"I am a little surprised. We struggled here more than I expected. We made just okay runs in the early sessions, but the good news is that those runs held up to keep us in the show. The racetrack has been very tricky to tune for this weekend, and I think the heat has confused a few people. We tried a few things in the later sessions, so I feel like we will be okay in eliminations tomorrow.
Stanfield will meet Mark Whisnant in Round 1, and Price will be paired against Jeff Gracia.
"Performance wise I think we are ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow I think it will be drivers' race. Both Greg and I are going to concentrate on our driving. It will be important for us not to beat ourselves on the starting line. We need to drive our race and not worry about the guy in the other lane. I think this DBP Enterprises team is ready to race."
Eliminations at the 41st Annual AutoZone WinterNationals get under way at 11:00 PST on Sunday Feb. 4.
