LUCKY 13TH FOR LUCAS IN WINTERNATIONALS QUALIFYING

POMONA, CA. (Feb. 11) -- Morgan Lucas, driver of the Lucas Oil Products Top Fuel dragster will roll out of the lucky No. 13 qualifying position to confront first round opponent and rookie, Hillary Will in Sunday's final eliminations of the 46th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, the NHRA's season-opening event.

Lucas, who qualified with an elapsed time of 4.579 seconds along with his swift speed of 323.66 mph, is looking forward to getting back to racing and pressures it brings.

"After waiting all winter to get back in a race car, testing was great, but it's the thrill of competition that drives me," said Lucas. "We know that Hillary Will is going to be tough tomorrow. We have made four runs down the track, and that information is invaluable for our setup. We are hoping to step it up for Sunday and come out with a first round win. From there, we'll just have to wait and see."

ESPN2 will be broadcasting in High Definition on DIRECTV on Channel 72 or on ESPN2's digital channel of 209 at 10 p.m. EST for a two hour broadcast on Saturday and on Sunday from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with final elimination coverage.
