Jeg and Troy Coughlin Ready for Action in Season Finale
Team Jeg's Pro Stock drivers Jeg and Troy Coughlin entered the third qualifying session both qualified for the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals. Better conditions left no doubt that each driver would need to improve during the session to remain in the quick sixteen.
Troy Coughlin was the first member of the Jeg's contingent to take to the quarter mile at Pomona Raceway Saturday morning. Troy ran his best pass of the weekend guiding his yellow and black Jeg's Mail Order wire to wire with a pass of 6.87 seconds at 201.13 mph.
"The car ran really good that pass," commented Troy. "We knew we would have to step it up during that session, and the team delivered."
Jeg Coughlin also had a great pass during the third qualifying session. The big block Chevrolet tore down the quarter mile like it was on a string. Jeg ran a 6.86 second pass at 200.80 mph.
"It was a great effort by our team," said Jeg. "The car felt excellent from start to finish. The crew at Team Jeg's made the right adjustments, and the performance of the car really stepped up."
Troy Coughlin continued to improve after four rounds of qualifying. Troy posted a 6.86 second pass at 200.92 mph.
"It was a great final qualifying pass," said Troy. "We'll make some minor adjustments this evening and see what we can do in eliminations tomorrow."
Jeg Coughlin also had a strong performance in the Saturday's final session. Jeg ran a 6.86 second pass at 200.8 mph. Jeg's pass was nearly a carbon copy of his attempt earlier in the day.
It felt like we gave up a little in the first hundred feet," said Jeg. "It was still a great run for us, and were excited about our chances for a win tomorrow."
Jeg Coughlin faces off against Ron Krisher in first round action, while Troy Coughlin matches up against V. Gaines.
