Quaker State Racing Team Closes Out 2004 NHRA Season

POMONA, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2005) -- Tony Pedregon, who pilots the Quaker State Racing Nitro Funny Car, is intent on getting his 23rd career victory during this weekend's 40th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway.

Pedregon knows the importance of getting that first win as a car owner, but would also like to continue his qualifying prowess this season. The Chino Hills, Calif., resident has qualified in the top half of the field 15 times this season.

"Without a doubt there's a little pressure," said Pedregon, on wanting to get that first victory. "It's not my first dance and I've talked with the team about this, but I'm very proud of them and how they have represented Quaker State and all of our sponsors. They have done it very well.

"We all owe it to one and other," Pedregon added. "And to everyone who has been involved in this effort, that we get a win this weekend. It would also mean a lot because we're running in familiar territory at Pomona."
