POMONA, Calif. - Today at the 41st Annual AutoZone WinterNationals in Pomona, Calif., Ruben Celedon, driver of the Sikeston Dragstrip/ Gabby's Pallets Chevy S-10 Pro Stock Truck, failed to place his truck on Sunday's eliminations ladder.

Celedon's best pass of the weekend would be his run on Thursday. His 7.567 / 176.56 mph would only be good for the 24th position.

Celedon cited a number of mechanical problems as the reason for his DNQ.

"We had a bad weekend," said Celedon of Edinburg, Texas. "We just couldn't get the truck to run all weekend.

"The first pass we broke a push rod. The second session we had clutch problems. We changed our motor before the last session, but it wasn't enough. The truck runs well on the bottom end, but gets to half-tack and noses over.

"We struggled all weekend, and hurt both motors. It has been a very disappointing weekend for us, but we are not giving up.

Undaunted by his bad luck, Celedon has a plan to turn his performance around.

"We are going to send both of our motors back to Schmidt's. He is going to go through them and make sure everything is right. We are going to try get them back as soon as possible. We would like to go to Houston and test before we head for Gainesville.

"We are disappointed that we did not qualifying, but we are not giving up. We will be back and ready to race at the Gatornationals."

The next stop for the Pro Stock Trucks will be the 32nd Annual Mac Tools Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. March 15-18.
