POMONA, CA.- Indianapolis, Ind.-based Top Fuel driver Bruce Litton could be considered to be an individual that doesn't surrender without a fight. The veteran trailer salesman, who competes regularly on the International Hot Rod Association circuit, has yet to qualify for an NHRA event in 1999. After two days of qualifying, the Wix Filters-backed driver is ranked 12th out of 25 entries in attendance at the 35th annual, Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.

Litton holds a place in the program on the strength of a pass during Thursday's lone session when he hammered out a 4.744/301.74. This pass afforded him the 11th seeding after the first leg of the four session qualifications.

He was unable to duplicate his previous performance today as he launched hard, rattled the tires and aborted the run. He slowed to a 10.576 and because of his failure to improve in the attempt, fell one rung lower on the ladder to the 12th spot.

He remains confident that his fortunes will improve in tomorrow's sessions.

Litton and the balance of the Top Fuel field will have two qualifying runs at the 35th annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals on Saturday, with sessions slated for 1:45 PM and 4:30 PM. The quickest sixteen qualifiers will compete in eliminations slated to begin Saturday at 11:00 AM.
