POMONA, Calif. - B&J Transmission distributor Pat Austin took the provisional low qualifying spot in Federal Mogul Funny Car with a great 5.759 at 252.54 mph during the first day of qualifying at this weekend's AAA Auto Club Finals in Pomona, Calif.

Recent Las Vegas winner Mike Strasburg led the B&J Federal Mogul Dragsters with a 5.544 at 255.10 mph to put him fifth. Mark Hentges followed right behind him by taking the sixth spot with a 5.579 at 255.92 mph. Other B&J racers John Shoemaker and Steve Federlin follow in the 12th and 13th spots, respectively.

Along with Austin's polesitting 5.75 blast in FMFC, recent Phoenix runner-up John Weaver currently sits in the fourth spot with an impressive 5.785 at 248.29 mph.

The Federal Mogul Dragsters and Funny Cars will have two more qualifying shots today. First round will be ran tomorrow, with final eliminations following on Sunday. Stay tuned to SummitRacing.com's Drag Race Central for round by round updates of the racing action from Pomona.
