Tony Pedregon Pomona Post-Race Quote:
"Our problem in the first round stemmed from a misreading from our weather station. The end result was the car having more power that it needed and losing traction. Locating the problem makes this much easier to fix. I am very encouraged going to Phoenix. I know that we can run with anyone."

On racing in Phoenix and his history at Firebird Int'l Raceway:
"We set the track record in Phoenix last year at 4.70, and I'm certain that will be broken this weekend. We hope we're one of the ones to break it. Phoenix is one of the few venues I haven't won at, but that gives me more motivation and incentive for this weekend. In the first year for Quaker State, we made it to the final and were runner up there. We are much more well-rounded this year, so our expectations have been set higher. Our season really begins in Phoenix."

On goals for the upcoming race weekend in Phoenix:
"The goal is to keep the competition close and not fall too far behind. In order to do that, of course like everyone else, we have to minimize first round losses. There is a big Hispanic market in Phoenix, which is important to our team and our program. In all of the years I've won races, I'd like to add Phoenix to my resume."

On the racing surface at Firebird Int'l Raceway:
"The NHRA is paying attention to the track prep. The people buying tickets want to see good, close racing. It is important for NHRA and important for us as competitors. Phoenix has evolved into one of the better tracks on the circuit. The surface of the track has really improved over past years -- they've really made progress in preparing the track. It lends itself to cars with a lot of power."
