RICHFIELD, OH 9/17/03 Due to persistent rain the National Hot Rod Association was forced to postpone the Lucas Oil Nationals until the weekend of October 4-5. Two professional qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday the 4th, with eliminations slated for Sunday, October 5th.

At present Mark "Cowboy" Pawuk and the Summit Racing Pro Stock Pontiac are not yet in the field, but Pawuk has high hopes for not only the Maple Grove Raceway event, but for this coming weekend's Mid-South Nationals in Memphis as well as for next weekend's POWERade Series national event in Joliet, Illinois.

"We made an awful run on Friday night at Maple Grove," Pawuk said following the rainout, "but we weren't alone in that area. A number of top-flight teams didn't make good runs, so we're all going to face the same conditions in a couple of weeks. The only thing I'm even remotely concerned about is a change in the weather that could result in high temperatures and humidity. That could hurt everyone not yet in the show, but we'll just have to deal with that as it happens.

"Right now our main concern is the race in Memphis.
That comes first. I hate to use those sports cliches, but we really are
taking 'em one race at a time. That's the only way."
