Parts America Sponsorship of Anderson Race Team to Conclude in November

KANSAS CITY, MO (Sept. 18, 1998) - Parts America's sponsorship of the drag racing team of Randy and Shelly Anderson will come to an end at the conclusion of the 1998 season.

"The Andersons are like extended family to many of us here. We have enjoyed many fruitful years with the team and will miss our involvement with them," said Brian Kelly, vice president of marketing and advertising at Parts America.

Parts America's relationship with the Andersons began in 1995. Since that time, the brother/sister duo has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the NHRA. In 1995 and 1996, Randy Anderson drove his Alcohol Funny Car to nine final round appearances and four national event titles. In 1997, he moved up to a professional class and scored two national event victories in his Parts America Nitro Funny Car. Meanwhile, Shelly has brought home two event titles under the Parts America banner, as well as two national speed records. Today she is classified as the fastest woman in motorsports history with top speeds of more than 317 mph. Although the Andersons are the first and only brother/sister team in the history of professional drag racing, their success has proven that their team is not built on a mere gimmick.

Parts America has announced that it intends to merge with Advance Auto Parts later this year.
