BOWDISH WINS COMP; ALL LANG FINAL IN STOCK

KENT, Wash. - A handful of champions were crowned this past weekend for the postponed NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Bret Chevrolet. The event, originally scheduled for June 15-17 at Pacific Raceways, was postponed due to rain with racers in Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson concluding their eliminations at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event in Woodburn, Ore. this past weekend.

Adam Bowdish took the win in Comp Eliminator over fellow Oregon racer Mark Stewart. Bowdish, out of Oregon City, Ore., drove his '89 Trans Am to a run of 9.378 seconds at 145.79 mph for the win.

In Super Stock it was defending Northwest Division Champion Mark Faul taking the win over Alan Falcone of Seattle. Faul held off Falcone with an 11.041 second pass at 117.00 mph. Toby Lang grabbed the win in Stock Eliminator knocking out brother Jody. Toby ran 11.672 at 105.84 in his '69 Chevelle to Jody's 12.281, 105.77 in his '81 Malibu.

Wade Johnson won in the Sportsman Motorcycle class on his '83 Suzuki with a lap of 8.640 seconds at 139.14 mph over Miles Hauer of Seattle.

The final rounds of Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will be completed during the Pacific Raceways NHRA national event later this month with rookie TAD driver Thomas Bayer, Fontana, Calif., taking on former division champion Joey Severance, Spanaway, Wash., and Dennis Taylor, Anaheim Hills, Calif., squaring off against John Evanchuk, Edmonton, Alb., in the TAFC final.

All remaining classes will return to Pacific Raceways on the evening of Saturday, August 25, for their remaining rounds of eliminations.
