Winning rounds on Lucas Oil racer Langdon's agenda
NORWALK, Ohio (June 23) --With their engine problems and mechanical miscues behind them, Shawn Langdon and the Lucas Oil/Speedco Top Fuel dragster team is setting its sights on this weekend's Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.
But before any work is done at the track, Langdon said he and the team will take care of business at another place.
"Our guys always get together and go to Cedar Point (amusement park)," Langdon said. "It's something we do the day before the race just to have some fun before getting down to business."
Langdon scored a first round win at Bristol last week after a string of mechanical issues held back what has been a good running car. He is a solid eighth in the points with five races to go before the field for the Countdown tom 1 playoffs is determined.
"We've had some warm weather races already this year so we should have a good idea what to do this weekend," Langdon said. "We're not behind in any areas right now. We have areas where we can pick up a little here or there, but we're not behind anyone.
"It's just going to be a matter of getting back to the basics. But overall everything is going smooth. The tune-up is good. The motor isn't hurting itself."
Despite the heat that always seems to go hand in hand with racing at Summit Motorsports Park, Langdon knows the track always draws a large crowd.
"I heard that for their divisional race there they had 45,000 fans out there," Langdon said. "And I don't doubt that at all. Hopefully we can get at least that or maybe more for our national event.
"The Bader family always puts on a great show, and I expect nothing less this time around."
