PIPPIN LOSES IN FIRST ROUND OF ELIMINATIONS AT NORWALK

NORWALK, OHIO, June 29, 2008- Junior Pippin, the 55-year-old rookie rider of the PiranaZ Racing/Pippin Racing S&S-powered V-Twin pro stock motorcycle lost a close first round race to Steve Johnson during today's Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals here at Summit Motorsports Park.

Pippin was ahead of Johnson during the first half of the quarter-mile jaunt, but finished the run with a 7.127 e.t. at 183.87-mph. Johnson was quicker with a 7.037 e.t. at 189.20-mph. "I had him at mid-track, but I couldn't hold onto the lead. He was a quicker at the light, but our reaction times were pretty similar," said the Conyers, Ga. native.

"We missed a tune-up," said Pippin. "But my prediction is we'll turn this thing around and do better in Denver.

The Western Swing of the 2008 NHRA POWERade is next, with the pro stock motorcycles competing in Denver (July 11-13) and Sonoma (July 25-27).

Pippin remained 13th in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Countdown to the Championship point standings with 175 points, 438 points behind the leader.
