HERBERT PLANS ON WINNING AGAIN IN NORWALK
Norwalk, Ohio (June 27, 2007) With this weekends inaugural NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio, Doug Herbert returns to an old stomping ground full of good memories and several victories.
Herbert, driver of the Snap-on Tools Top Fuel dragster, raced down the quarter-mile in Norwalk for several years while competing in the IHRA series. With a victory in 1993 and on his last visit in 1998, Herbert looks forward piloting his 8,000 horsepower Snap-on dragster to another victory here on Sunday.
"I'm excited about going back to Norwalk," said Herbert. "I raced there every year from 1991 until 1998, and the fans were always really great. I will be glad to back there and see the new facilities."
Coming off his second final round appearance of the season, Herbert continues to gain momentum in his mission to make the next phase of the Countdown to the Championship. Only 52 points and three round wins away from the all important eighth position, Herbert is excited about the opportunities that await him this weekend.
"I like this track," said Herbert. "I won the last time I raced here. It's always nice to come back to a place where you have done well, especially after going to the final round the week before.
"Jim Brissette, Dave Fletcher and everyone on the Snap-on Tools team are doing a great job. The car is running now like we've been saying it can all season.
"We have seven races left to make good on our word and make the Countdown. We plan on making the final round again this weekend, only this time we will be the ones celebrating at the top end and in winner's circle."
