Connolly Meets Warren Johnson in Key Race for 10th Place

NORWALK, Ohio, June 28, 2008 -- Dave Connolly missed an opportunity to win
$50,000 on Saturday in the K&N Horsepower Challenge and now he'll be attempting
to add to his Pro Stock POWERade Series point total in Sunday's Summit
Racing Equipment Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park.

His first-round match against Warren Johnson is important because Connolly is 11th in POWERade Series points and Johnson is 10th. The difference is 73 points, 501-428.

Connolly, from nearby Elyria, couldn't catch Warren's son Kurt Johnson in the Challenge's opening round, which also was the first of only two qualifying sessions for the drivers. Connolly's Charter Communications/LifeLock Chevy Cobalt was timed in 6.762 seconds at 204.08 mph to Johnson's 6.738 at 206.04 mph.

Connolly came back on his last run and lowered his quickest time to 6.753 at
203.89 mph. That puts him opposite the elder Johnson.
"We just didn't have enough for Kurt," Connolly said. "The car was a
little soft on the starting line. It made a nice, straight run but it just wasn't
on edge like we needed it to be. We were really shooting from the hip
because we hadn't made a run on this track yet.

"Now we'll get ready for our first-round race against Warren."

Connolly is the defending race Pro Stock champion.
