Statement from NHRA Founder Wally Parks on the passing of Bill France, Jr.

"Having known Bill Jr. since his teenage years, when he was assigned to beach control during NASCAR's early Speedweeks at Daytona, I have always been impressed with his integrity and his sincere dedication to upholding the basic principles that were established by his father, Bill France Sr.

"His inherited leadership has been highly responsible for the dynamic growth that NASCAR has achieved as the unchallenged leader in motorsports. And his special combination of wit and wisdom will be missed by those of us who were fortunate in knowing him, as we extend our condolences to the members of the France family."

Statement from NHRA President Tom Compton on the passing of Bill France, Jr.

"Few would argue the impact Bill France Jr. had, not just on stock car racing, but the entire motorsports world. From humble beginnings, he led a movement that resulted in elevating motorsports to a mainstream sport and entertainment industry. Today, every motorsports organization, including the NHRA, is grateful for his vision and influence.

"His accomplishments, foresight and inspiration will forever shape the motorsports world. On behalf of everyone in the NHRA family, I want to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the France family and the entire NASCAR community."
