Langdon looking to continue momentum in Sonoma
As Shawn Langdon and his Lucas Oil/Speedco dragster team heads to the Bay Area for this weekend's FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals, the third year pro plans to take a little time to relax.
"We're going to stop and play golf at the Olympic Club for a couple of days," Langdon said. "Then we're going to Alcatraz and an Oakland A's game.
"It's a chance to kick back a little before getting back to work on the weekend."
Langdon has been making some progress since a mini-slump during the middle of the season. He's moved up one spot in the NHRA Full Throttle Series Top Fuel points to eighth, and is within striking distance (24 points) of seventh.
"The big thing for us not is that we've got a happy motor," Langdon said. "We just have to start pushing it a little more now. You make a lot of power in Sonoma, the air is really good. But it can get tricky."
As a native of the West Coast, Infineon Raceway is a place Langdon is more than familiar with than the tour's last stop in Denver.
"I've always loved that track," Langdon said. "I won there in Super Gas last year. The key is to build on some of the momentum we gained here lately and get a stronger spot once the Countdown starts here soon."
