NHRA's Pedregon brothers to race USAC at the Las Vegas Motor Speeway Bullring
LAS VEGAS -- The NHRA's Pedregon Brothers will race in more than straight lines this weekend.
Defending NHRA Funny Car champion Tony Pedregon and his brothers Cruz and Frank will square off in a Ford Focus Midget exhibition on Saturday night at the Bullring as part of The Orleans Hotel and Casino USAC Sprint Car and Midget Nationals.
The brothers, all of whom compete in the NHRA Funny Car division as part of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, will make left turns instead of straight-line passes in the 10-lap exhibition. Both Cruz and Tony have 27 career Funny Car wins, while Frank has four. The brothers are excited to compete against one another in a different form of racing.
"We're gonna have a little fun Saturday night," said Tony Pedregon, 2003 NHRA Funny Car champion. "We actually started in go-karts. That was my background and the background of my two brothers. I think we're gonna have fun -- the rivalry's there. Any opportunity that I get to get some seat time -- get in a go-kart or a Midget -- I jump at the chance. It's gonna be a good workout, to see what kind of shape I'm in."
The NHRA Ford Focus Midget exhibition is set for 9 p.m.
