Line Part of Team Summit 1-2 on Friday in Joliet
NHRA Pro Stock points leader Jason Line extended his streak of strong qualifying runs on Friday at the Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, Ill., posting the second-quickest time in each of the two sessions. After opening with a 6.632-second time on his opening run, the Summit Racing driver stepped up in the evening round, tripping the finish line timers in 6.597-seconds with a top speed of 207.66 mph, joining his teammate Greg Anderson as the only two cars in the 6.5-second range. Slotted second midway through the qualifying procedure, Line was pleased with the team’s collective performance.
“All in all, it was a good day for the Summit Racing team,” said Line. “Although my car ran well, I’m even more excited about my teammate’s performance, because his car has struggled in qualifying of late, so it was nice to see him run as well as he did. If I have to be second, I would naturally rather it be Greg than anyone else. We’re still not 100% satisfied, but we were better than everyone else, and that’s what matters. There’s more left in both our cars, so it’s all good. We’re looking forward to tomorrow.”
