Del Worsham enters the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, the second of six races in the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs, in third place in the NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel point standings. He trails second-place Spencer Massey by 22 points and leads his teammate, fourth-place Larry Dixon, by seven points. He is just 38 points out of first place after having led the point standings since the second race of the season in March. The top five in points are separated by just 55 points.

Worsham prior to Dallas:
“The first race of the Countdown didn’t go like we hoped it would last weekend in Charlotte, but fortunately, we had a little bit of a points cushion from starting the Countdown as the No. 1 seed. Because we had that bonus, we came out of Charlotte only 38 points out of first place so that’s good news. The other good news is that we still have five races to go, and with Top Fuel as tight as it has been all season, I’m still confident the championship won’t be decided until the last race of the season in Pomona. It may be a little tougher for us now, but with only 55 points separating the top five in points, don’t count us out.

“I’m looking forward to getting to the Texas Motorplex this weekend. They celebrated the track’s 25th anniversary last year so that track has been on the NHRA tour for a long time. Everyone on our Al-Anabi team will be focused on getting back some of the points we lost in Charlotte. Texas Motorplex is a fast track when the weather cooperates so we could see some great racing again this weekend. This is exactly what I signed up for, and the Al-Anabi guys have great race cars that are capable of winning any weekend.”

2010 NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon enters the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, the second of six races in the Countdown to the Championship NHRA Playoffs, in fourth place in the NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel point standings. He trails his teammate, third-place Del Worsham, by seven points and leads fifth-place Tony Schumacher by 10 points. He is 45 points out of first place.

Dixon prior to Dallas:
“Looking back at Charlotte, our car wants to run. Despite losing in the semifinals, our Al-Anabi car had a good weekend. We made some really good runs, and that’s a great sign. Over the last three races, our car has shown consistent signs that it wants to go. On any given weekend, we’re probably one run away from being able to win the race. If we do that, the playoff competition will take care of itself.

“That’s an exciting outlook heading to the next race, which happens to be Dallas, the second race of the countdown. Our Al-Anabi team is close to winning races, and this is a great time of the season to feel that way. We didn’t do it at Charlotte, but there’s no reason why we can’t do it this weekend in Dallas.

“The competition in Top Fuel continues to be intense. The top five in points are all so close that if one of us wins the race this weekend, chances are that team will be the points leader after Dallas.”
