PERKINSON READY TO PREMIER AT POMONA

POMONA, CA. (Nov. 10) - Before the 2010 NHRA season is over, Buddy Perkinson wants to leave an indelible mark on the Comp Eliminator category. In his first year of competing against some of the biggest names in the sport of drag racing, the 19-year old from Hopewell, Va., has learned so much in such a short period. Now he's hoping that bank of knowledge will play out with a win this weekend at the 46th annual Auto Club NHRA Nationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona on Nov. 11 - 14.

Perkinson and his Larry Morgan-owned Dodge Comp Car has two quarterfinal results at Indy and Reading, before heading west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the NHRA National and Division 7 events winding up with two consecutive round finishes.

"Our goal is to be just better than we were in Vegas and we can't end the year on a note like that," quipped Perkinson. "We know we're better than that. We have to set up something special and make a comeback because we know we're still quick on the track. We're hoping to be a threat next year in the category, so we want to go out with a bang."

This being Perkinson's first visit to the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, he fully understands the famed Parker Ave. quarter-mile legacy and the Virginia Comp driver has a tremendous respect for it and knows that can be overwhelming having names like Garlits, Prudhomme, Bernstein, and Force as part of the track's history.

"A lot of famous people have gone down that track and believe me, I can't wait to be one of them," said Perkinson. "It's going to be a hard race and we're pulling together as a team with Larry (Morgan) giving us guidance. We're developing a strategy where we won't take away so much our index in the race, but still be successful in getting the win light."
