And Capps is red-hot as well, with two semi-finals appearances in the last two races that have boosted him to sixth in the standings.

"Route 66 has turned into the quickest and fastest track on the calendar, so it's always exciting to come here," said Bazemore, who is seeking his first Funny Car championship. He has three career wins at Route 66 Raceway. "It's a place that we really enjoy going to. Hubinette Hunting for Second Straight Victory at Houston

Team Mopar's resident "Crazy Swede" and the Mopar SRT10 Dodge Viper team will return to action this weekend in the Need for Speed Underground Formula Drift Championship Series. Samuel Hubinette, the defending champion of the "Drift Houston" event, is geared up and ready to slide at Reliant Park in Houston, Texas on June 10 -11. Though Hubinette and company have had a month-long break since their last event in May, the team has been hard at work on keeping the team on the cutting edge.

"We had a great run at Road Atlanta, but when the event ended, our work began," Hubinette said. "The Mopar SRT10 Dodge Viper team has been working non-stop to continue to build on our drifting program. Everyone at DC Performance and Archer Racing has stepped up to meet the challenges that this year's stiff competition in the drifting arena have presented. We've been making changes, testing with Yokohama Tires and literally working straight through for the past month to make sure that we're as good as we can be for Drift Houston. We're looking forward to heading to Reliant Park to compete and see if we've accomplished what we set out to do."

Hubinette enters the third round of competition for the Need for Speed Underground Formula Drift Championship Series ranked in second position in series points. "The Crazy Swede" rebounded from an early elimination in the first event of the season at New Jersey and fought his way to victory in the second round of competition at Road Atlanta. Hubinette's efforts landed him not only the top spot on the podium, but also firmly established him as a contender for the 2005 title.

Capps to Join Nascar Drivers on Eldora's Dirt

Ron Capps, driver of the Brut Dodge Stratus Funny Car for Don Schumacher Racing in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, will make a side trip to Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, this Wednesday to run the NEXTEL "Prelude to the Dream" event.

Capps will join NASCAR stars Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Bobby Labonte, Kevin Harvick, Dave Blaney, Kenny Schrader, Kyle Petty, Kenny Wallace, Jeff Green and Mike Wallace, as well as World of Outlaws driver Danny Lasoski and the legendary Red Farmer, in dirt Super Late Model cars in this inaugural promotional event on the half-mile clay oval.

"I grew up loving dirt racing, so Eldora is kind of the holy grail of dirt tracks," said Capps, who is sixth in NHRA Funny Car points after nine races. "It's one of the, if not the most, prestigious dirt tracks in the country. This event is kind of like an IROC race, because they're all identical dirt cars. And, as a drag racer, to be invited to race with the likes of Harvick, Kenseth, Stewart and Kyle Petty, and even the legendary Red Farmer, is quite an honor. Racing against them will be a great experience."

Gates for the sold-out NEXTEL "Prelude to the Dream" open at 3:30 p.m., with the first round of practice slated for 6:30 and the racing set to take the green flag at 8 p.m. For more info go to eldoraspeedway.com.
