MILAN DRAGWAY SIGNS NHRA SANCTIONING AGREEMENT

GLENDORA, Calif. (Mar. 24, 2009) -- NHRA officials have announced that Milan Dragway in Milan, Mich., has joined the NHRA Member Track network. The quarter-mile facility was originally built in 1963 and was sanctioned by NHRA until 1972. It also ran under NHRA's flag from 1989-2001.

Milan Dragway will participate in the NHRA North Central Division Summit Racing Series which will culminate with the Summit Series Finals at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Sept. 18-20. The squad from Milan won the team title at the event in 2001.

The track also will participate in special programs offered exclusively by NHRA, including the National Dragster Challenge, the Aerospace Components King of the Track, the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge, and NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA. The National Dragster Challenge and the King of the Track programs give local racers the opportunity to earn a coveted Wally trophy at their home tracks.

"We are very excited about being an NHRA Member Track again," said Milan Dragway's race director Chris Baxter. "This is great news for our racers, sponsors and fans. We look forward to participating in all of the racing programs NHRA has to offer."

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States.
