Q Racing Pilot Thinks Experience Will Be A Key Tomorrow

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (Aug. 20, 2005) -- Tony Pedregon and the Q Racing Nitro Funny Car wrapped up the 12th qualifying slot for this weekend's O'Reilly Mid-South NHRA Nationals at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Pedregon, who also collected a slot in the upcoming Skoal Showdown during the U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis Raceway Park in two weeks, lapped the western Tennessee quarter mile in 5.040 seconds at 294.05 mph.

With a 3 p.m., local start here, the extreme heat experienced throughout this weekend will come into play. Pedregon talked about that.

"I think the more experienced drivers will have an advantage tomorrow," Pedregon said. "On that last run tonight, I thought we could have run in the middle 4.90's. We have a lot of power in this Q Racing machine, but we're going to need make sure we get down track. The heat and slick race track will be a factor, especially for the first two rounds of eliminations."

Pedregon takes on Eric Medlen as his round one opponent tomorrow afternoon.
