Loss of Traction Costs Toliver in Opening Round at Memphis

MEMPHIS, Sept. 16, 2007 -- Jerry  Toliver's race against Jack Beckman Sunday
was a good one for the first 660 feet  of the quarter-mile in the opening
round of the Mid-South Nationals at Memphis  Motorsports Park.
"We were going good in the first half of the track when  the car went over
the bump in right lane, we spun the tires, the engine dropped  a cylinder and he
zipped by us," related Toliver.  His ROCKSTAR Energy  Drink/AutoZone Toyota
Solara Funny Car slowed to 5.310 seconds at 203.37 mph  while Beckman -- the
eventual race runner-up -- stopped the timer in 4.854  seconds at 312.57 mph.
"We had a good weekend," Toliver continued.  "The car is running better, we
qualified better and I'm excited about going to  Dallas next week."
