Anderson qualifies number 2 in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pro Stock Pontiac Grand Am, will start the 16th annual O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals from the Number 2 position on the Pro Stock eliminations ladder.

It was in the Saturday morning session of qualifying where Anderson piloted his Grand Am to a 6.759 / 204.23 mph to secure his position in tomorrow's race. When eliminations get underway Sunday morning Anderson will meet Steve Schmidt in Round 1.

"I think we are in pretty good shape for tomorrow's race," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "I have Steve Schmidt in the first round. If I get by him, I may have to race Kurt (Johnson) in the second round. As far as the championship goes that could be a huge for this Vegas General Construction team, but first we have to get past Steve."

"Tonight we will turn our attention to tomorrow's race. We will prepare the car, and prepare ourselves. This can be a tricky racetrack to get down, so keeping lane choice is going to be crucial tomorrow. I have all the confidence in the world that my guys are going to give me a great racecar to drive. Then the rest is up to me."

"We have what it takes to go the distance here Memphis, hopefully we will put it all together and wind up in the winner's circle tomorrow night."

Eliminations at the 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals will take place on Sunday Sept. 21 at 11:00 AM EST
